Hibberd Family & Friends,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope this message finds you happy, healthy, and ready for the adventures ahead!
January is a month of fresh starts and new opportunities, and we’re excited to embrace the energy that comes with the beginning of a new year! This month, we’ll be focusing on setting positive intentions and building strong foundations for success in the months ahead. In our classrooms, we’ll encourage students to reflect on their goals, celebrate their growth, and explore ways to cultivate a mindset of curiosity and resilience. As the days gradually grow longer, we look forward to sparking bright ideas and fostering a sense of community that helps every child thrive. Let’s make this January a month to remember!
Report Cards will be sent home on January 10, 2025. Students completed the middle-of-year (MOY) Diagnostic Assessments for Math and Reading - Those results will also be sent home on January 10, 2025. If you have questions about your students iReady results, please contact Mr. Steven Hensley at 765.973.3745.
The first day back for students in January 6, 2025 - Our doors open for breakfast at 8:00am. We can't wait to see all of our students back at school!

If school were to be delayed or cancelled due to weather, families will be notified by text and phone call.
- 2-hour delays do not have to be made up - school just starts at 10:28 am instead of 8:28 am. If there is a 2-hour delay, school will end at 3:15 (even if it's a Tuesday).
- If school is cancelled, the days will be made up in person on January 20 and February 17.
- On the third and fourth cancellation, students will complete Asynchronous eLearning Days.
- If there are five or more cancellations, students and teachers will meet online for live virtual learning as Synchronous eLearning Days.
A Quick Reminder:
Snow Day #1 will be a built in snow day and students will be in session on January 20, 2025.
Snow Day #2 will be a built in snow day and students will be in session on February 17, 2025.
Asynchronous eLearning days will occur on Snow #3, Snow Day #4, and Snow Day #5.
Please make sure your teachers have communicated and modeled for students how to access their eLearning courses (especially for elementary students)."

We (Hope Alight) have created a new resource for families that can be shown during a technology night you host within your school or organization or that you can send out to your families to watch at home. We have also created a supporting handout (attached) should you choose to host this viewing in-person. The recording, linked here, will give an overview of how technology impacts the brains and behaviors of our children along with many TBRI-based strategies to support brain health as well as emotional and mental health. With several data resources available now, we are understanding more deeply how technology is impacting this new generation and we hope you find this resource helpful to empower and equip your families.

RESILIENCE: GETTING BACK UP WHEN SOMETHING GETS YOU DOWN
Week 1
What is resilience? Resilience is a tough word. It doesn’t mean that everyone can pop back up at the same rate, or that everyone experiences the same types of setbacks, or has the same experience getting back up. It’s kind of like one of those punching clowns: everyone gets knocked down— just not at the same level, with the same resources for help, or the same past experiences in getting up from challenges. How do we pop back up anyway?
Week 2
Knocked down and feeling low. Falling down is hard and painful and tiring. It takes time to get back up, and the truth is, you might not want to get back up. How do you find reasons to get back up when you are down? What are your “whys”, the reason to keep going when you aren’t a starter on the team, not first chair of the section, and didn’t get the lead? This week, we’ll talk about facing and overcoming adversity.
Week 3
Digging out of that hole. When you’re down, you might also feel shame or hurt. Admitting that you are down is a first step, which may mean admitting failure, that you are having a struggle or that you are hurting. How do you find a path out? Who can help you? This week we talk about how honoring the struggle is a big part of healing, but there comes a point where you have to make a move.
Week 4
Examples of resilience. Who do you know that is an example of resilience? What are some famous stories of comebacks? Who can you ask about how they persevered when they got knocked down? This week we’ll finish strong by finding out how you can learn from the experience of others who have demonstrated resilience in circumstances similar to yours.
